Exhausted? Sick? Here’s some good news for you

© November 14, 2018 | Schulter Etyang  And having seen the crowds He was moved with compassion concerning them because they were exhausted by their troubles and their long, aimless wanderings, and had thrown themselves to the ground in an utterly prostrate condition as sheep not having a shepherd. Matthew 9:36 (Wuest – The New Testament: An Expanded Translation) Our world is full of exhausted people. From Wall Street to K-Street, boardrooms to the warehouse floors, father to the newly born baby, pulpit to the Children’s Church. We are an exhausted world. The two Greek words used for fainted and scattered in the KJV version are eklyo and rhipto, which mean to become weary (exhausted), to the point of fainting and to throw down, respectively. Imagine the Rock’s Rock bottom move in WWE. That is what it means to be thrown to the ground. Where does this exhaustion come from?

Grace and the beauty of sleep

I have always admired (even envied) how Jenny sleeps. She sleeps so well. Jenny can sleep for 12 hours straight with one or no breaks at all. She also sleeps very quietly. She makes no sounds at all. I could count with my fingers the few times I’ve heard her snore. You couldn’t even describe that as a snore. More like a wimp of a snore – like a deflated snore. Like gosh, I now have to snore. Jenny also enjoys going to bed at night. You can see her eyes light up when its time to sleep. I usually say to her that she gets ready to go to her throne where she is queen – where she reigns supreme.

You shall not what? The Ten Commandments…naah. I don’t know what you are talking about.

© April 6, 2017 | Schulter Etyang A lot of people of my generation don’t really know what the Ten Commandments are. Many of my generation can only recite parts of the Ten Commandments and most probably they heard about the Ten Commandments from a secondary source. Like from an old guy who wasn’t even sure himself or peers who are trying to figure it out. You will be hard-pressed to find people in my generation that can recite the Ten Commandments in its entirety. It will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Much of it is also caused by biblical illiteracy. Not many of my generation know what is in the bible.
