A new reformation within the Charismatic Movement

This week we celebrated the 500th anniversary of the reformation. On 31st October 500 years ago, a German monk by the name of Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses on the door of the All Saints Church. He also sent the theses with a letter to Albert of Brandenburg the Archbishop of Mainz. His one act sparked religious, intellectual, political, and cultural change that completely altered the Church and the then world. What took place was earth shattering to say the least. The Catholic Church splintered and the protestant movement was formed and the after effects are still being felt to this day

In his 95 theses, he argued that faith in Jesus alone and not selling of indulgences or good works was the only way to obtain pardon for sin (sola fide). He also argued for the sole reliance on scriptures (sola scriptura) as the foundation for the beliefs in the Church. Let me not get you tangled up in the weeds. Basically, his action was summed up in this – Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Period!

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Grace and the beauty of sleep

I have always admired (even envied) how Jenny sleeps. She sleeps so well. Jenny can sleep for 12 hours straight with one or no breaks at all. She also sleeps very quietly. She makes no sounds at all. I could count with my fingers the few times I’ve heard her snore. You couldn’t even describe that as a snore. More like a wimp of a snore – like a deflated snore. Like gosh, I now have to snore. Jenny also enjoys going to bed at night. You can see her eyes light up when its time to sleep. I usually say to her that she gets ready to go to her throne where she is queen – where she reigns supreme.

You shall not what? The Ten Commandments…naah. I don’t know what you are talking about.

30b1ee6ebca9910398a89b60ab7b93dfA lot of people of my generation don’t really know what the Ten Commandments are. Many of my generation can only recite parts of the Ten Commandments and most probably they heard about the Ten Commandments from a secondary source. Like from an old guy who wasn’t even sure himself or peers who are trying to figure it out. You will be hard pressed to find people in my generation that can recite the Ten Commandments in its entirety. It will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Much of it is also caused by biblical illiteracy. Not many of my generation know what is in the bible.
