Your tender and delicate wife

Listen bro,

Your tender and delicate wife will defy, disrespect, dislike you and many times submit to you with gritted teeth and a clenched fist – If you hadn’t noticed yet. It’s not her fault. It’s not even her parent’s fault. Her parents were just as defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate just as she is.

Whose fault is it?

It’s Eve’s fault. Eve did that. Blame it on Eve. In the Garden of Eden, Eve went against her husband’s wishes and ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Since then all our women do the same. (Romans 5:12)

Here’s the bad news

Her defiance, disrespect and insubordination might never be resolved. Never! These issues might affect your life more than you know. Because of Eve’s sin, she will many at times disrespect, defy, dislike, rebel, be insubordinate, be angry at you, blame you, fail you and will secretly sneer or even mock your beer belly. You do know that your mid-rift goes south as you age right? That six pack is going down bro.

Now here’s the good news… ready?

Jesus is the only person on the face of the earth who loves defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate people. It almost seems like he will not love anyone that will not admit how defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate they are.

Jesus actually loves to hang out with defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate people because defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate people is all He has.

Jesus intentionally chose your tender and delicate wife for you so that he (Jesus) can love her through you.

So here’s what you will have to do

Love her just like Jesus loved and loves you. (Ephesians 5:25-26)

This is how Jesus loved and loves you

  1. In your worst, when you deserved punishment for your defiance, disrespect and rebellion, he loved you so much that as God he took on your form and paid the penalty for your sins. Not only that. God did more. God took his righteousness and imputed it on you. (2 Corinthians 5:21) That’s the story of the gospel.

In moments of her sin and weakness, you will have to remember that Jesus also saw you as defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate and loved and still loves you.

In moments of her sin and weakness you will have to remember that Jesus also saw you as defiant, disrespectful and insubordinate and loved and still loves you.

Bro, please disregard that lie that has been peddled in our churches that if you love your wife unconditionally she will naturally submit to you. That’s not true at all. In the Garden of Eden, Eve was in perfect love. But she still decided to do her thing. The love you have for your wife does not guarantee that she will submit and respect you or reciprocate that love.

The love you have for your wife does not guarantee that she will submit and respect you or reciprocate that love.

But here’s what I want you to know. You will never know how much you are loved until you experience how much Jesus loves your wife through you. I mean Jesus loves you yet many times you defy, rebel and disrespect him. Jesus doesn’t love you based on your performance – whether good or bad. Afford your wife the same. Love her regardless of her performance – whether good or bad.

Jesus doesn’t love you based on your performance – whether good or bad. Afford your wife the same. Love her regardless of her performance – whether good or bad.

Jesus loves you this I know.

That’s what grace looks like
